There are many Caribbean Countries that are islands and just a few in the Continent with shores on the Caribbean Sea. Some islands are important countries like Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola and Puerto Rico; some of them are small independent countries with some links to their original colonizers and a few are still totally dependent of the European countries that discovered them in the first place.
Here I am mentioning the different countries in an alphabetical order, their capitals and a brief description. I will also redirect you to more information on each one on this site or our sister and oldest website about the Caribbean Islands.

Capital The Valley. Anguilla is a small British Overseas Territory located on the northeastern end of the Caribbean Sea near St Martin and the British Virgin Islands.

Antigua and Barbuda
Capital St John’s. This is an independent nation of British heritage composed of two islands. They are located on the northeast of the Caribbean.
Capital Oranjestad. Is an independent country with ties to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is located on the southern Caribbean close to the shores of South America.
Capital Nassau. This is a 700 islands archipelago with forms the nation of the Bahamas. It is an important country near the coast of Florida, United States.

Capital Bridgetown. This “Gem of the Caribbean Sea” lies outside the chain of islands that run north to south in the southern Caribbean. It is practically in the Atlantic Ocean.
Capital Kralendijk. This is a small island part of the Dutch Antilles reporting directly to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It has a great marine life at its coast.
British Virgin Islands
Capital Road Town, Tortola. This is a group of breathtaking islands northeast of Puerto Rico. It is a heaven for sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving.
Capital Georgetown. This is British Territory located south of the Island of Cuba. They are three island, Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.

Capital Havana, is the largest of all the Antilles occupying a large space from the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico under the Florida straits to the neighboring island of Hispaniola.
Capital Willemstad. Located on the southern Caribbean it is one of the Dutch Antilles, together with Bonaire, St Maarten, Saba and Statia.
Capital Roseau. This is an independent island located between Guadeloupe and Martinique. It is world known for its Ecotoursim.

Capital Santo Domingo. This is an important Latin American country with many industries, being one of the most important the Tourism Industry
Capital St George’s. Grenada together with the little islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique form this small southern Caribbean nation.
Capital Basse Terre. This is the main center for the French Caribbean Islands. It is an Overseas Department of France.
Capital Port Au Prince. It occupies one third of the island of Hispaniola together with the Dominican Republic. It is the poorest country in the Americas.

Capital Kingston. This is one of the most important touristic spots in the Caribbean. The best Caribbean Beaches near Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios.
Capital Fort de France. It is part of the French Caribbean Islands together with Guadeloupe, St Barth and St Martin. It features lush green vegetation.
Capital Plymouth. This Island has been hit by the eruption of a volcano a few years ago, that almost devastated it.

Capital San Juan. Is a Commonwealth of the United States. Its residents are US Citizens. This is the most cosmopolitan of all Caribbean Islands, featuring great beaches and an amazing nightlife. A few islands are part of Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra and Mona.
Capital The Bottom. Is part of the Dutch Antilles. It is a tiny island of volcanic origin, not far from St Maarten. You can reach it by plane or by boat from the nearby islands.
Capital Gustavia. This is a tiny high-class island of the French Caribbean. You may find here celebrities from all over the world.
Capital Oranjestad. Like neighboring Saba this is a Dutch island belonging to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Capital Marigot. This is the French side of the island shared with its Dutch neighbor. This island is the center of Gastronomy in the Caribbean.

Capital Phillipsburg. This is the Dutch sector of the island shared with French St Martin. It is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
St Kitts and Nevis
Capital Basseterre. This is a tiny ex British Colony composed of two islands. They have some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, especially thr island of Nevis.
Capital Castries. The land of the Pitons is a beautiful green island south of Martinique. It has great beaches of white, grey and black sands.
St Vincent and the Grenadines
Capital Kingstown. It is made of the big island of St Vincent and many more little islands forming a beautiful necklace all the way to the other nation of Grenada.

Capital Port of Spain. Located near the northern shores of South America, this is one of the most important Caribbean Countries with lots of industry and business.
Turks and Caicos Islands
Capital Cockburn Town in Grand Turk. This is a British Overseas territory located on the north of the Island of Hispaniola.
United States Virgin Islands
Capital Charlotte Amalie. The three islands of St Thomas, St Croix and St John are the USVI an American Territory east of Puerto Rico.
Cozumel is a small island offshore of the Mayan Riviera
